Biology
Biology is a required course for all high school students. This course is an introductory study of living things and their environment. Students are asked to use the skills and processes of science to investigate and explore ecology, biochemistry, cellular biology, genetics, evolution, and current biological issues. Through the use of performance based tasks the students will explore real world problems from a biological perspective. I have designed the content sequence of this course using the Next Generation Science Standards adopted by the Maryland Department of Public Schools. This class is goal oriented as to prepare students for the High School Assessment (HSA) in Biology that is a required component for students to pass for graduation. The students are assessed and provided continuous feedback and support in the mastery of the content. It is a strong expectation that students use their interactive notebooks to study daily.
